Komatsu servo press feature built-in load monitors, on board graphic displays of energy consumed/saved, all slide motion paraments such as pendulum stroke & speed, velocity, dwells, material “touch points” by angle and distance from BDC; automatic settings by part number such as slide adjustment position, cam settings, load monitor limits. All slide motion parameters are settable by the operator, including a speed override provision that allows the operator to slow the press speed while in production, allowing view of in-die processes such as timing of cams and release of pilots, while still producing parts as the servo drive maintains full press energy regardless of speed. No “proprietary” motors are used so any repair or replacement is readily available.
Komatsu’s own press diagnostic and PM system will be demonstrated at FABTECH 2017. Not only are press conditions monitored and notifications sent through the internet to smart phones and personnel devices such an IWatch, but other press components in the system, such as coil line or other devices, are also monitored. A press is only part of the production system, so it just makes sense that all other production systems working with the press need to be monitored as well. Even other necessary production machines such as lasers, welders and robotics can be monitored with the system. We will be monitoring other Komatsu presses and automation in different booths at the show.
