W11: Exploring AWS D1.6: Stainless Steel Welding and Applications
Stainless steels are primarily chosen for their corrosion resistance, with mechanical properties such as strength, hardness, and ductility being secondary considerations. Therefore, it is crucial to protect the weld metal from contamination or oxidation during the welding process. Cleanliness is essential when welding stainless steels. This session will cover the basic types of stainless steel, general welding discontinuities and defects, specific discontinuities and defects in stainless steel welds, and general corrosion issues.
Attendees will receive copies of AWS D1.6:2017 and a photocopy of "The Professional’s Advisor on Welding of Stainless Steels."
