S06: Sensors for Die Protection – Make Die Crashes a Thing of the Past

The term “Die Protection” describes an electronic system that monitors material movement and critical events in the stamping process. Die protection systems prevent damage by stopping the press before a die makes a bad hit. The price you pay for this level of protection is the increased amount of work you must do to install sensors in each die to detect specific malfunctions. This presentation covers every aspect of implementing a die protection program as well as sensor selection and installation. Whether you’re an experienced die protection user or have never installed a sensor, the program will provide you with the information that you need to improve your stamping operation and put an end to repetitive die crashes. Using practical, application-oriented examples, attendees will learn best practices methods for detecting misfeeds, non-ejected parts, improper transfer, material buckling and other potentially die-threatening issues using state-of-the-art electronic sensors.
