F145: Integrating Innovation: The Evolution of Sensory Technology and Machine Control in Modern Manufacturing

The Object of My Detection; Common Sensor Applications In Assembly, Handling, and Logistics
Within this short presentation we will dive into common sensor applications within assembly, handling, and logistics. Technologies ranging from inductive, capacitive, ultrasonic, and photoelectric will be covered and their capabilities as a solutions to the applications. We will work together to solve industry applications big and small.
Logan A. Welch – Balluff Inc.

The Future of Fabrication Machine Control is Cabinet-free
Cabinetless machine design is gaining significant ground in many industries. Whether for new designs, redesigns or retrofits, the concept requires durable industrial components that can mount directly to the machine and withstand harsh production environments. This includes everything from IP65/67 motion control systems and I/O terminals to even the machine controller itself. These technologies are helping fabrication machine builders deliver systems that maximize space savings for end users. Cabinetless machines are up to 70% smaller and are more cost competitive than larger, less efficient machines that still rely on large enclosures to house electrical equipment. Cabinetless control systems can reduce electrical documentation by 75% and decrease control system components by a factor of 10. They also require less commissioning time and troubleshooting time in the field. This presentation will review real-world examples that demonstrate how to successfully approach the idea, the results others have achieved and barriers that still exist.
