3D/Additive Manufacturing

F105: Scale Up & Revolutionize 3D Printing

The United States Marine Corps. Scales its Additive Manufacturing Capabilities
The United States Marine Corps. (USMC) is forging a new path for the industrialized use of additive manufacturing. The presenter works hand-in-hand with the USMC to standardize data processes, drive adoption, and build awareness in the USMC. In this presentation, William will discuss how the USMC evaluated 10,000 parts for additive manufacturing despite having distributed and oftentimes incomplete part data. As a result of this presentation, participants will learn how the USMC standardized and centralized large volumes of traditional part data, what data points were the most critical for understanding whether a part could and should be produced with additive manufacturing, and lessons learned, data uncovered, and applications and use cases discovered.

Revolutionizing Automated 3D Printing
Additive Manufacturing has been available for over a decade and although it is rightly seen as a potential manufacturing game changer, it is yet to realize its full potential in fully migrating from prototyping to production applications, due to a heavy reliance on slow manual process, unpredictable results and limited capability. Leveraging new technologies such as AI and Automation, we can address these challenges enabling AM to scale via fast, predictable part production and ROI. Users who attend this session can expect to learn more about how AI and Automation can be leveraged in the printing process to enhance their parts.
